Panelist: Northern Lights: The Canadian Movement To Make Psychedelic Therapy Available at End Of Life
In August 2020, Laurie Brooks and Thomas Hartle became the first Canadians to legally undergo psilocybin-assisted therapy to help process the prospect of death from cancer. Hear from therapists, patients and advocates about the movement to make psychedelic therapy a sanctioned treatment for those with serious illness and at end of life.
More about Laurie
Laurie Brooks has been married to her husband Glenn for 33 years and is a mother of four adult children. Her life was turned upside down and backwards when she was diagnosed with colon cancer in early 2018. Despite going through countless rounds of chemotherapy, radiation and multiple surgeries the cancer keeps returning. In October of 2019 she turned to psilocybin therapy to help her deal with the grief, anger and anxiety she was living with. The experience was so profound in helping her enjoy her life despite having cancer that she has become an advocate for the legalization of psilocybin for therapeutic use in Canada. In August of 2020 she was one of four Canadians to receive legal access to psilocybin. To this day she is living a life full of love and laughter, trying to make the most of each day.
